(cracking up)nails + giveaway winner

Leave it to OPI to set (or rejuvenate) a trend. I remember first hearing about their "crackle" nail polish before the release of their Serena Williams & Katy Perry sets and although I found the effect pretty cool...the fact that the polish only came in black left me a little passive. Well now they've got a whole spectrum of colors to choose from. However, I've never been a fan of OPI. In fact, I don't currently own a single OPI polish. While they have some great and trend-setting colors, I find that their large sized brush is difficult to use on my more narrow nails.
Enter Sally Hansen's Crackle Overcoat:

What you see above is two coats of Butter's "All Hail the Queen" followed by one coat of Sally Hansen's Crackle Overcoat in "Antiqued Gold". Honestly, I am not overly thrilled by this polish. I don't know if this is because of the (neutral) color combo I chose or because I don't think that I like the way the crackle effect looks on my own nails. This is actually my first crackle nail polish ever so I don't have much to go on. At $6.99 a bottle, this Sally Hansen polish is only slightly less expensive than OPI's variety. I still feel a little passive about this polish. I don't dislike it, but I don't love it either. Your thoughts?
By the way, doesn't the photo look awesome? My friend at work took it with her digital SLR which is definitely a few steps up from my cell phone camera. Thanks Bethany!

I'm a huge OPI fan, but I'm happy to see that other people are making the crackle nail polish, because OPI's was too expensive for me! haha

I have yet to try this trend - I think it might drive me crazy actually to see my nails that way. But I guess I can't knock it 'til I try it. I am more of an Essie fan than an OPI one - I usually pick their polishes in the salon. But I really love painting my nails with Sally Hansen's fast dry brushes because they're wide and thin (if that makes sense).

I do love crackle and effect nail varnish like this. i haven't come across the OPI version over here yet but i'll keep my eyes for it - that gold colour would go with anything x

I'm still not completely sold on crackle either. I have OPI's black and white shatters and while I think they're neat, I haven't found the right color combo or brushstroke pattern that makes me love-love it.
